Rocket Day
May 14, 2022 | 10:00 am - 11:30 pm
Scouts who join Cub Scouts this year will receive a rocket that they can design, build, and launch at Rocket Day. Remember to bring the rocket you received when you joined. The district leadership will supply the rocket engine. Scouts already in Scouts can bring their own rocket and engine (learn more). Youth in kindergarten through fifth grade who are interested in joining Scouting may also attend. The district membership committee will help you find a pack near you and get signed up for Scouting, so bring a friend to join Scouting and they will receive a rocket onsite. Adults volunteers are needed to help with the event; contact scouterkyleverret@gmail.com for more information. Everyone is invited to attend the Scout Days Rice University baseball game at 2:00 pm. The event is being held at Rice University at Intramural Field 6 (next to the baseball stadium).

Twin Bayou District Roundtable
May 12, 2022 | 7:00 - 8:30 pm
Roundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of the month at Blanton Scout House located behind St. Luke's Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77027. Blanton Scout House is on West Alabama just east of Edloe. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers and helps unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas; information on policy, events, and training opportunities; and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts. Follow the district Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TwinBayou.
Outdoor Leader Training
Training is an important part of learning to become an effective leader. Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, and a whole lot more. A trained leader is better prepared to make the Scouting program all it can be! Every Scout deserves a trained leader. See the council training schedule for a list of additional trainings offered around the council. For more information, visit Charles Williams.
What to Bring to Training Council Training Schedule
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) is an overnight training with 16-hours of instructional time that gives adult leaders the practical knowledge they need to help Scouts to learn outdoor skills. The skills presented closely follow the Scout Handbook and rank advancement requirements. This is a required training course for all Scoutmaster and assistant Scoutmasters.
